My name is Caryn Pumplun, I relocated from South Africa to South Australia at the start of 2021, with my husband and 2 children.
I graduated from the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa, in 2004. I am a member of the Golden Key International Honour society, having graduated within the top 15 % of college graduates at UCT within 2004. I spent the first 17 years of my career working within specialised education in South Africa. I was a senior speech pathologist for the Education Department and was based within a specialised school setting. I have spent most of my career supporting children with Autism, as well as children with specific learning disabilities access the curriculum and feel supported within the school environment.
I worked in private practice in Adelaide for 18 months before deciding to open my own therapy practice.
My special areas of interest include speech sound production errors as well as developmental language disorders and literacy related difficulties.
I firmly believe in the importance of working together with parents/caregivers and teachers. When working as a cohesive team, we are best able to collate all the pieces of the puzzle and build towards ensuring that each child’s needs are being addressed holistically. Creating opportunities to develop speech and language skills outside of the therapy setting, both at home and within a child’s school/childcare environment, is key to ensuring carry-over of skills and progress in intervention.
I provide mobile therapy services and treat children within a variety of settings, including home, childcare and school environments. I prepare individualised therapy programs that cater to the unique needs of each and every child that I treat.
Ladybugs have a special place in my heart. They signal the approach of transformation. At Bugz speech pathology I hope to encourage my clients to grow and transform into the best little versions of themselves!
